Tuesdays around the world!

Yes sweeties - another Tuesday and another Tuesdays around the world!

Today I´m telling you how this rascal of mine - who I know so well - still surprises me almost every day.

I was brushing his teeth the other night and asked him a question while doing so - and all of a sudden he responded in english and said: "I don´t know".

I dropped my chin and asked him if he knew what that ment, and he sure did. Then several sentences in english bubbled out from his mouth, like he had just waited for a chance to reveal this secret of his. Very scattered sentences, but all in correct english.

Kids are so cool.

They hear things, sort it out in their heads - and when you least expect it, they smack you in your head with it in that "Don´t you think you have me figured out" kind of way.

And I love it, every single time.

Well I tell you what...I think that is just fantastic!

I do not know one English child who would ever suddenly open their mouth and say something - even one word - in Swedish.

Bravo to your boy.

I would be pleased if I could hear my little girl speak to me in Mandarin, even if it's only a word. You have done a good job speaking with him in English. Well done Mommy!

Kids say the funniest things sometimes. He's clever to know two languages.
My bilingual girls sometimes get it soooo wrong that it's NOT funny ;)
At the moment my eldest has an issue with F/T when she pronounces words. She says f(h)ree for 3 and t(h)ive for 5. And for everyone who knows thank you in Swedish is...TACK and also how to pronounce it...change the T for an F and you will get the famous F-word. So in our house we sort of use the "F-word" a lot!!! But how do you explain that to someone who doesn't know the two languages?!
Have a lovely day!
Kram Anette :-)

Aw!! Good for him!! My little student, who must be the same age as your rascal, is not rattling off in complete sentences in English and is beginning to read! Little brains are amazing!!

So cool, right? He must be very proud of himself, too. Well done, Tina. :)

It always tickles me no end when the kids out of the blue blurts out sentences or phrases in either Mandarin or Tagalog. They are little sponges and the earlier they are exposed to a second or third language, the better. :)

Leave it to a child to surprise you every time! Do your rascals study English in school? Or did he just pick it up?
